  1. How does empathy differ from sympathy?
    • Is one better or worse?

    • Is it a skill that can be trained?
  3. Have you ever been in a situation where someone showed you empathy, or lack thereof?
  4. How would you approach a patient who has just received upsetting news about their health?
  5. Do you think you can be ‘too’ empathetic?
  6. It has been suggested that medical students slowly become less empathetic over the years in medical school. Why might this be?
  7. How can doctors maintain empathy when they are stressed or under pressure?
  8. Do you think AI will ever replace the role of a doctor fully?
    • This is a very broad question, but there is a link here to whether AI can ‘mimic’ empathy.
